A BILL TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-17-170 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, CONSULTING WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, TO DEVELOP A MODEL TRAINING PROGRAM TO EDUCATE TEACHERS ON THE WARNING SIGNS AND DANGERS OF CHILD ABUSE, TO REQUIRE EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THE STATE TO DEVELOP ITS OWN CHILD ABUSE EDUCATION PROGRAM, AND TO REQUIRE EACH TEACHER IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL TO PARTICIPATE IN AT LEAST THREE HOURS OF CHILD ABUSE CONTINUING EDUCATION EVERY THREE YEARS.

Require The Department Of Education, Consulting With The Department Of Social Services, To Develop A Model Training Program To Educate Teachers On The Warning Signs And Dangers Of Child Abuse, To Require Each School District Of The State To Develop Its Own Child Abuse Education Program, And To Require Each Teacher In A Public School To Participate In At Least Three Hours Of Child Abuse Continuing Education Every Three Years.
