A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR GEORGE R. STARNES III, FINANCIAL ADVISOR FOR NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL, FOR THIRTY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO HIS PROFESSION AND TO THE PEOPLE OF THE PALMETTO STATE, AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the outstanding service George R. Starnes III has given to his profession and to the citizens of South Carolina as a dedicated financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual since 1982; and

Whereas, in preparation for his life's work, South Carolina native George Starnes earned a bachelor's degree in business at Lander University in 1981 and a master's degree in financial services (MSFS) from the American College in 1982. Since that time, he has achieved professional designation as an accredited estate planner (AEP), chartered financial consultant (ChFC), and chartered life underwriter (CLU); and

Whereas, early in his career, George Starnes learned that success would come if he earned his clients' trust, understood their needs, and put their interests first. He heeded the lesson, and as a result Mr. Starnes's clients praise him for the broad positive impact he has had on their lives during his thirty years of service at Northwestern Mutual; and

Whereas, knowing his consistent reliability and high standards, Mr. Starnes's colleagues attest that his reputation and work ethic make him the ultimate role model for new Northwestern Mutual representatives; and

Whereas, his colleagues have shown their respect for George Starnes's outstanding work in bestowing on him numerous awards and recognitions over the years. These include the Million Dollar Round Table, National Quality Award, and National Sales Achievement Award. He has been honored with these awards on multiple occasions; and

Whereas, George Starnes promotes the welfare of his profession as a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Estate Planning Council; and

Whereas, believing strongly in service beyond the walls of the office, Mr. Starnes has served his alma mater, Lander University, in various capacities, including as a member of the school's foundation board and as chairman and member of the school's board of trustees. In Columbia, he promotes excellence in education through serving on the Heathwood Hall Highlander Board; and

Whereas, on the home front, he and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of two adult sons and a daughter who attends Heathwood Hall. As a man of faith, George Starnes serves his God through membership at Shandon Baptist Church. His varied interests include running, traveling, and spending time with his family; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives appreciates George Starnes's commitment to excellence and his faithful service to the citizens of South Carolina, and the members wish him success as he continues to offer his clients the many benefits afforded by his expertise. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor George R. Starnes III, financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual, for thirty years of distinguished service to his profession and to the people of the Palmetto State, and wish him well in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to George R. Starnes III.
