No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, to accept and process supplemental nutrition assistance program applications for inmates for the purposes of providing program benefits upon release. It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
