| relating to the jurisdiction of a court in a suit to divide certain | ||
| property not divided or awarded on the dissolution of a marriage. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 9.201, Family Code, is amended by adding | ||
| Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, | ||
| the court that rendered a final decree of divorce or annulment or | ||
| another final order dividing property under this title retains | ||
| continuing, exclusive jurisdiction to render an order under this | ||
| subchapter to divide property not divided or awarded to a spouse in | ||
| the final decree. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | ||
| suit to divide property not divided or awarded to a spouse in a | ||
| final decree of divorce or annulment that is pending in a trial | ||
| court on the effective date of this Act or that is filed on or after | ||
| that date. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
