A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the review by the Sunset Advisory Commission of a state
  agency's use of information technology.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Chapter 325, Government Code, is amended by
  adding Section 325.0124 to read as follows:
         Sec. 325.0124.  REVIEW OF AGENCY'S USE OF INFORMATION
  TECHNOLOGY. As part of its review of a state agency, the commission
  shall consider and make recommendations regarding the agency's use
  of information technology, including a review of:
               (1)  the information technology programs the agency
  develops internally and the information technology programs for
  which the agency contracts;
               (2)  the agency's information technology policies;
               (3)  the agency's information technology contracts and
  licenses; and
               (4)  any other issue related to the agency's use of
  information technology to ensure the technology used is
  cost-effective and efficient.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
