A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to storing data received from a centrally counted optical
  scan ballot.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 127.1301(b), Election Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         (b)  An authority operating a central counting station under
  this chapter may not purchase or use a centrally counted optical
  ballot scan system that stores data on [uses] a computer with a data
  storage disc on which information, once written, is capable of
  being overwritten during a system upgrade [modified].
         SECTION 2.  Sections 127.1301(c), (d), and (e), Election
  Code, are repealed.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
