WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to | ||
a close with the passing of Mary Patricia Puig Mueller of Corpus | ||
Christi on April 2, 2023, at the age of 91; and | ||
WHEREAS, The daughter of Dr. Valentine Lawrence Puig and | ||
Louise Payne Puig, the former Patty Puig was born in Laredo on | ||
December 10, 1931; after graduating from The University of Texas at | ||
Austin with a degree in education and a minor in business, she moved | ||
to Corpus Christi, where she began working as an elementary school | ||
teacher and met her future husband, Joe Mueller, with whom she | ||
shared 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2016; and | ||
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Mueller held | ||
leadership positions in the Coastal Bend Community Foundation, the | ||
Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, the Gulf Coast Council of the | ||
Boy Scouts of America, and the Nueces River Authority; she also | ||
dedicated herself to the Corpus Christi Public Library Foundation | ||
Board and helped raise funds for a new public library in Corpus | ||
Christi; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mueller strongly believed that "no one can take | ||
your education away from you," and she and her husband gave | ||
generously of their time and resources to scholarship funds across | ||
Texas; moreover, she served on a number of university councils and | ||
boards, including The University of Texas at Austin's Development | ||
Board and the Texas A&M University Vision 2020 Advisory Council; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of | ||
time will never diminish the joy and love that Patty Puig Mueller | ||
brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Patricia Puig | ||
Mueller and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her | ||
family: to her children, Michelle Mueller, Martha | ||
Mueller-Guicciardini and her husband, Federico, Mary Pat "M. P." | ||
Mueller, Paul Mueller and his wife, Beth, and Julianna Clardy and | ||
her husband, Mike; to her sister, Sara Puig Laas; to her brother, | ||
Dick Puig, and his wife, Ingrid; to her grandchildren and | ||
great-grandchildren; and to her many other relatives and friends; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patty Puig | ||
Mueller. | ||
