| WHEREAS, Mark Thomas retired as president and CEO of the | ||
| Taylor Economic Development Corporation on October 31, 2023, and | ||
| this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on the | ||
| contributions of this esteemed Texan; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Having assumed leadership of TEDC in 2016, | ||
| Mr. Thomas helped strengthen the organization's finances, even | ||
| while guiding it through the COVID-19 pandemic; during his tenure, | ||
| TEDC launched numerous new projects and cultivated billions of | ||
| dollars of capital investments in Taylor, attracting companies such | ||
| as Samsung, Valero, Noren Products, Summit Cabinets, and Hart | ||
| Components; his efforts have also enabled the organization to | ||
| target investments in roads and water and wastewater | ||
| infrastructure; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas brought to his role a wealth of knowledge | ||
| and expertise from his more than 30 years of experience in economic | ||
| development leadership in Midland, Waco, and Georgetown; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and | ||
| commitment to excellence, Mark Thomas has greatly benefited his | ||
| fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his | ||
| exceptional record of achievement as he embarks on the next | ||
| exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Mark Thomas on | ||
| his retirement as president and CEO of the Taylor Economic | ||
| Development Corporation and extend to him sincere best wishes for | ||
| the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Thomas as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
