| WHEREAS, The UAW International Area Council for Retired Auto | ||
| Workers of South Texas is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its | ||
| founding in 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, One of the largest and most diverse unions in North | ||
| America, the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and | ||
| Agricultural Implement Workers of America represents individuals | ||
| in virtually every sector of the economy; a solid majority of the | ||
| organization's retirees stay actively involved in the life of their | ||
| union, with more than 600,000 members in chapters in the United | ||
| States, Canada, and Puerto Rico; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since its establishment a quarter-century ago, the | ||
| South Texas council has remained dedicated to assisting affiliates | ||
| with a number of vital issues, including financial and medical | ||
| benefit concerns; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The group supports the UAW mission of securing | ||
| economic and social justice for all people, and the steadfast | ||
| efforts of its leadership will continue to make a positive | ||
| difference in the lives of many South Texas senior citizens; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the founding | ||
| of the UAW International Area Council for Retired Auto Workers of | ||
| South Texas and extend to all those associated with the group | ||
| sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
