R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, El Paso County Deputy Sheriff Patrick Gailey
  demonstrated courage and compassion when he rescued an elderly
  woman from a brush fire on April 29, 2010; and
         WHEREAS, Late that morning, Deputy Gailey was off duty,
  dining at a restaurant in Canutillo, when he noticed a large brush
  fire raging nearby; a high wind was driving the fire toward a
  community of mobile homes, and the flames were burning especially
  close to one in particular; and
         WHEREAS, Rushing from the restaurant to the home nearest the
  fire, Deputy Gailey discovered a 77-year-old woman inside who was
  unaware of the impending danger; he immediately escorted her away
  from the area, saving her from possible injury or death; the local
  fire department soon extinguished the blaze, and no lives were
  lost; and
         WHEREAS, Deputy Gailey was recognized for his heroism with a
  certificate of appreciation from the Military Order of the World
  Wars at a ceremony in El Paso in May 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Through swift and decisive action, Deputy Sheriff
  Patrick Gailey helped prevent a tragic turn of events, and he is
  truly deserving of recognition as one who embodies the highest
  ideals of the law enforcement profession; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Deputy Sheriff
  Patrick Gailey for safeguarding the life of a fellow Texan and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Deputy Gailey as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
