| WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at | ||
| the loss of Travis Garcia of Pleasanton, a gifted young athlete | ||
| whose life was tragically cut short on March 15, 2022, at the age of | ||
| 19; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Eric Garcia and Abby Rains, Travis Garcia | ||
| was a superb golfer with a promising future ahead of him; he was a | ||
| graduate of Pleasanton High School, where he helped the Eagle golf | ||
| team advance to state in 2021, and he was twice named PHS Most | ||
| Valuable Player; at the time of his death, he was continuing to | ||
| compete in the sport while working toward a criminal justice degree | ||
| at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico; and | ||
| WHEREAS, As he pursued his dream of becoming a professional | ||
| golfer, Mr. Garcia impressed others with his strong work ethic and | ||
| his determination to succeed; he was well-liked and widely admired | ||
| in his close-knit community, where his untimely passing inspired a | ||
| tremendous outpouring of prayers and sympathy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Possessed of a warm smile, a caring and generous | ||
| nature, and an unfailingly positive attitude, Travis Garcia | ||
| brightened the world for those who were fortunate enough to know | ||
| him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Travis Garcia and | ||
| extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Travis | ||
| Garcia. | ||
