R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kelly Tackett of Berkner High School in Richardson
  won the Innovations in STEM Teaching Award from the Texas
  Instruments Foundation in 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the TI Foundation and administered by
  the Richardson Independent School District Excellence in Education
  Foundation, this annual award recognizes the work of outstanding
  teachers of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Tackett is a mathematics teacher at Berkner High
  School; for her success in maintaining a creative and
  student-focused classroom, Ms. Tackett received $5,000 in cash and
  another $5,000 to be used to purchase education technology
  materials or pursue professional development; and
         WHEREAS, Teachers in the STEM fields of study play an
  essential part in preparing young Texans for the challenges and
  opportunities of the future, and this prestigious award recognizes
  the impressive contributions that Kelly Tackett has made in that
  important effort; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kelly Tackett on winning the 2011
  Innovations in STEM Teaching Award and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Tackett as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
