R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
  those saddened by the death of Clarence Ray Pennington of Salado on
  November 17, 2022; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Clarence Ray Pennington Sr. and Bessie
  Irene Pennington, CR Pennington was born in Dallas in 1937; he
  graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1955, and he went on to
  earn a degree in business from North Texas State Teachers College,
  where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity; on March 3,
  1973, he wed the former Joyce Eaton, and the couple shared a
  rewarding marriage that spanned nearly five decades; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to serving in the Air Force Reserve,
  Mr. Pennington enjoyed a successful career in the clothing
  industry, and he was the owner of 18 retail clothing stores; in
  1984, he and Mrs. Pennington purchased American Dance/Drill Team,
  and he became vice president and chief financial officer of the
  company; over the years, he helped to provide numerous scholarships
  for dance students and teams, and in 2017, he helped to establish
  the Joyce and CR Pennington Dance Education Scholarship at the
  University of North Texas; he was honored with the Distinguished
  Service Award from the Texas Dance Educators Association; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Pennington took great
  pride in his two children, Brad and Doug, and with the passing
  years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include four
  grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known CR Pennington
  will remember the way he touched their lives with his exceptional
  kindness, generosity, and humor, and he will forever hold a special
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Clarence Ray
  Pennington and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Joyce Eaton Pennington; to his sons, Brad
  Pennington and his wife, Tracy Melendez, and Doug Pennington and
  his wife, Gina Goodson; to his grandchildren, Brittany Pennington
  Dolotina and her husband, Jordan Dolotina, Coleman Ray Pennington,
  Kylee Goodson, and Sami Selby; to his great-grandchildren, Jackson
  and Mackenzie Dolotina; to his cousins, Janis Pennington Bell,
  Cindy Pennington Murphey, James Pennington, and Carol Cox; and to
  his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for his
  family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of CR Pennington.
