R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of Support Texas Adoptee Rights (STAR) are
  gathering in Austin on March 21, 2023, for Texas Adoptee Rights Day
  at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, A nonprofit organization, STAR is dedicated to
  raising awareness of the unique challenges that adult adoptees face
  in accessing their own information; through education and
  legislative reform, the group works tirelessly to ensure that
  adults in Texas who were adopted receive equal treatment under the
  law and have access to their family health history and personal
  identity information, including their original birth certificates;
  and
         WHEREAS, The organization represents the interests of all
  three parties involved in the adoption process--adult adoptees,
  birth parents, and adoptive parents--and its members include
  residents of 254 Texas counties as well as adoptees from out of
  state whose births and adoptions occurred in Texas; and
         WHEREAS, STAR is helping to rectify the unintended
  consequences of past adoption practices in Texas and to create a
  more transparent, just, and humane adoption system for the future;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 21, 2023, as Texas Adoptee
  Rights Day at the State Capitol and extend to the organization
  sincere best wishes for continued success with its important work.
