| WHEREAS, Justin Edward Macmanus of Boy Scouts of America | ||
| Troop No. 142 in Harlingen has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and | ||
| this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant | ||
| honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the | ||
| scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding | ||
| criteria, Mr. Macmanus earned the requisite 21 merit badges, and | ||
| for his Eagle Scout project, he constructed three wooden shelves | ||
| for a storage room at St. Anthony Catholic Church; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Brian and Nancy Macmanus, this fine young | ||
| Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout | ||
| his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his | ||
| fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting | ||
| offers; his numerous camping excursions include Buffalo Trails | ||
| Scout Ranch and Camp Rancho Cima, and he has served his troop as | ||
| patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and camp staffer; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In addition to his scouting activities, Mr. Macmanus | ||
| is a sophomore at Harlingen High School, where he is vice president | ||
| of his class, ranks second academically, and competes for the | ||
| varsity tennis team; he is president of his local 4-H club and is | ||
| active with his church's youth group and as an altar server; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Macmanus's dedication to excellence and | ||
| his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy | ||
| to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with | ||
| pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Justin Edward Macmanus on | ||
| achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Eagle Scout Macmanus as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
