R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
  those saddened by the passing of Rene Alcala of Buda on October 12,
  2022, at the age of 65; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Helen and Pedro Alcala, Rene Alcala was
  born in Buda on September 29, 1957, and he grew up with the
  companionship of two siblings, Ernest and Linda; and
         WHEREAS, In 1980, Mr. Alcala's parents founded Helen's Casa
  Alde, which became a beloved Buda restaurant; following the passing
  of his father in 1992 and his mother in 2017, Mr. Alcala played a
  prominent role in operating Helen's, and he distinguished himself
  as a skilled and dedicated business leader; he helped guide the
  restaurant through a number of challenges, including a devastating
  fire that occurred in 2020; and
         WHEREAS, An avid sports fan, Mr. Alcala enjoyed rooting on
  The University of Texas Longhorns, the San Antonio Spurs, and the
  Dallas Cowboys; above all else, he cherished time spent with his
  family; and
         WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Rene Alcala
  leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
  richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Rene Alcala and
  extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rene
  Alcala.
