| relating to the date by which law enforcement agencies must report | ||
| arrests to the Department of Public Safety. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subsection (d), Article 60.08, Code of Criminal | ||
| Procedure, is amended to read as follows: | ||
| (d) Except as otherwise required by applicable state laws or | ||
| regulations, information or data required by this chapter to be | ||
| reported to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice or the | ||
| Department of Public Safety shall be reported promptly but not | ||
| later than the 30th day after the date on which the information or | ||
| data is received by the agency responsible for reporting it except | ||
| in the case of an arrest. An offender's arrest shall be reported to | ||
| the Department of Public Safety not later than the second [ |

| day after the date of the arrest. | ||
| SECTION 2. Subsection (d), Article 60.08, Code of Criminal | ||
| Procedure, as amended by this Act, applies only to an arrest made on | ||
| or after September 1, 2011. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
