relating to the date by which law enforcement agencies must report | ||
arrests to the Department of Public Safety. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subsection (d), Article 60.08, Code of Criminal | ||
Procedure, is amended to read as follows: | ||
(d) Except as otherwise required by applicable state laws or | ||
regulations, information or data required by this chapter to be | ||
reported to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice or the | ||
Department of Public Safety shall be reported promptly but not | ||
later than the 30th day after the date on which the information or | ||
data is received by the agency responsible for reporting it except | ||
in the case of an arrest. An offender's arrest shall be reported to | ||
the Department of Public Safety not later than the second [ |

day after the date of the arrest. | ||
SECTION 2. Subsection (d), Article 60.08, Code of Criminal | ||
Procedure, as amended by this Act, applies only to an arrest made on | ||
or after September 1, 2011. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
