A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the timely processing of certain requests relating to a
  person released on parole or mandatory supervision.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter D, Chapter 508, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 508.1145 to read as follows:
         Sec. 508.1145.  PROCESSING OF INFORMATION REQUESTS RELATING
  TO RELEASEES.
  To the extent practicable, a parole officer shall:
         1. Complete the processing of a request relating to a
  releasee's employment, including all necessary paperwork, not
  later than the thirtieth calendar day after the date the officer
  receives the request.
         2. Complete the processing of a request relating to the
  completion of a releasee's term of parole or mandatory supervision,
  including all necessary paperwork, not later than the thirtieth
  calendar day after the date the officer receives the request.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
