A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the designation of polling place locations on the
  campuses of certain general academic teaching institutions.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 43, Election Code, is
  amended by adding Section 43.008 to read as follows:
         Sec. 43.008.  CAMPUS POLLING PLACES. (a) If a general
  academic teaching institution as defined by Section 51.821,
  Education Code, with a total student enrollment of at least 8,000
  students is located in a county, the commissioners court of the
  county shall designate as a polling place a location on:
               (1)  the main campus of the institution; and
               (2)  each branch campus of the institution at which at
  least 8,000 students are enrolled.
         (b)  Voting by personal appearance must be conducted at a
  polling place location designated under this section during the
  same hours as voting is conducted at the main early voting polling
  place and on election day.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the
  last day of the legislative session.
