Rudolph Zapata | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Rudolph Zapata, who | ||
died May 27, 2013, at the age of 78; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rudy Zapata was born on June 2, 1934, in Taylor, | ||
Texas; a longtime Austinite, he became a well-known leader in his | ||
community and was noted for helping the youth of East Austin; he | ||
was a recipient of the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rudy was retired from his 44-year career with | ||
Austin Travis County Integral Care; he had also been employed at | ||
the Pan American Recreation Center; throughout his life, he was a | ||
hard worker who was dedicated to both his professional career and | ||
his volunteerism; and | ||
WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Rudy was a generous, | ||
kindhearted person who was respected in the community for his | ||
accomplishments; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was devoted to his family, and he and his wife, | ||
Lydia, were blessed with eight children, 22 grandchildren, and | ||
eight great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he | ||
gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, | ||
and valued counsel will not be forgotten; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rudy Zapata was beloved by many, and he leaves | ||
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and | ||
friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Rudolph Zapata; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the | ||
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do | ||
so in memory of Rudy Zapata. | ||
