A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 30-111.1, relating to the General Assembly Conflicts of Interests Act; special reports on travel and trip expenses.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 30-111.1 as follows:

§30-111.1. Special reports on travel and trip expenses.

In addition to the disclosure requirements of §30-111, each member shall file with the Clerk of his house a special report on each gift of travel or trip expenses with a value greater than $500. The report shall be filed with the Clerk at least 14 days prior to departure or, if there are fewer than 14 days between accepting the invitation to travel and the departure date, within 24 hours of accepting the invitation to travel.

The report shall contain the following: (i) the time, duration, destination, and purpose of the travel or trip; (ii) the estimated value of the gift; and (iii) the identity of the donor of the gift.

The information on the special reports shall be available for public inspection and shall also be reported pursuant to §30-111.
