Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 32.1-125.6 as follows:

§ 32.1-125.6. Investigations of complaints; in-person interviews.

Whenever the Department investigates a complaint against a nursing home, the Department shall conduct an in-person interview of (i) the complainant, including any long term care ombudsman who submitted or investigated the complaint, and (ii) any patient of the nursing home who is the subject of the complaint or identified in the complaint, or his legally authorized representative.
