16102788D WHEREAS, Roger Parker, Jr., an admired entrepreneur in Hampton, died on April 23, 2015; and WHEREAS, Roger Parker, affectionately known as Plucker, graduated from Huntington High School and attended Virginia Union University and what was then Hampton Institute; and WHEREAS, after completing his education, Roger Parker pursued a career with Amoco Oil Refinery, then fulfilled his dreams of entrepreneurship; and WHEREAS, Roger Parker served community members as the owner of a transportation business and was happy to provide his fellow residents with convenient, delicious meals as a hot dog vendor; and WHEREAS, Roger Parker enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of World Victory Church and Life Center; and WHEREAS, Roger Parker will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Penny; children, Lori and Roger, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Roger Parker, Jr., an entrepreneur and active member of the Hampton community; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Roger Parker, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory. |
