HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 201
Commending the Honorable William Kyle Barlow.

WHEREAS, the Honorable William Kyle Barlow is commended for his faithful service to the residents of the 64th Virginia House of Delegates district and the citizens of the Commonwealth from 1992 to 2012; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, William Barlow proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years before earning a law degree at the University of Virginia School of Law; and

WHEREAS, an experienced attorney respected by his colleagues for his keen grasp of the intricacies of the law, William Barlow entered public service after winning election to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1991; and

WHEREAS, for 20 years, William Barlow represented all or a part of, at various times, the Counties of Charles City, Henrico, Isle of Wight, James City, Prince George, Southampton, and Surry and the Cities of Franklin, Newport News, and Williamsburg; and

WHEREAS, admired for his honesty, tireless work ethic, and commitment to public service, William Barlow served as a valued member of many committees, including Courts of Justice; General Laws; and Militia, Police and Public Safety; and

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, William Barlow responded attentively to constituent needs and worked alongside fellow legislators to advance legislation that would benefit the residents of the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, William Barlow has been a faithful community supporter, serving as a member of the Smithfield Ruritan Club, former president of the Smithfield Rotary Club, and member of Smithfield Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, a loyal alumni of Virginia Tech, William Barlow served as president of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and received the university's Alumni Distinguished Service Award; and

WHEREAS, a respected legislator, William Barlow leaves behind a body of legislative work that will continue to influence the Commonwealth in the future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Honorable William Kyle Barlow for his 20 years of distinguished service to the residents of the 64th Virginia House of Delegates district; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable William Kyle Barlow as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation and gratitude for his exemplary service to the Commonwealth.
