HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 396 Offered March 4, 2010 Commending David and Jolly DeGive. ---------- Patrons-- Lingamfelter, Athey and Cole; Senators: Stuart and Vogel ----------

WHEREAS, David and Jolly DeGive of the Marshall District of Fauquier County were honored as 2009 Citizens of the Year by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, David DeGive, who passed away in June of 2009 after receiving the award, served on the board of assessors and helped create a rural historic district in Crooked Run; and

WHEREAS, desirous to serve their fellow citizens and Fauquier County, David and Jolly DeGive both participated on various local boards and committees; and

WHEREAS, known for their enthusiasm, David and Jolly DeGive were active in the Piedmont Environmental Council and dedicated to preserving the rural, historic nature of Fauquier County; and

WHEREAS, committed to making a difference in their community, the DeGives inspired others to volunteer and make Fauquier County a safer, friendlier, and more pleasant place in which to live; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate David and Jolly DeGive as 2009 Fauquier County Citizens of the Year for the Marshall District; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jolly DeGive as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for her and her late husband's dedication to the community of Fauquier County.
