WHEREAS, in 2010 the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center celebrated 35 years of enhancing the health and quality of life of older adults and adults with disabilities by providing an enriching and supportive structured environment; and WHEREAS, the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center was formed in 1975 through the joint efforts of First Baptist Church of South Richmond and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church as they recognized a need in the area for such an organization; and WHEREAS, today, the two churches continue to sponsor the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center while community partners and dedicated individuals provide generous assistance that has allowed the Center to continue its important mission; and WHEREAS, under the visionary leadership of Executive Director Saundra Rollins, the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center provides individuals with a wide array of services that are designed to optimize health and provide fellowship and engaging activities; and WHEREAS, individuals who attend the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center receive compassionate care and attention from extraordinarily dedicated professionals and have individual care plans that are developed and reviewed quarterly; and WHEREAS, the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center provides weekly health assessments from a registered nurse and a nutritious meal and snack daily; and WHEREAS, the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center also provides individuals with exercise and ball games, Bible study, arts, music, word games, and pet therapy; and WHEREAS, for the past 35 years, the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center has provided a vital service to older adults and adults with disabilities that allows them to continue to grow and develop in a safe and nurturing environment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center on the occasion of its 35th anniversary; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Saundra Rollins, Executive Director of the South Richmond Adult Day Care Center, as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for the organization's commitment to enhancing the health and quality of life of older adults and adults with disabilities. |
