Commending the Honorable Shirley F. Cooper.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 14, 2024
 

WHEREAS, the Honorable Shirley F. Cooper, an educator who formerly served in the Virginia House of Delegates and as chair of the York County Board of Supervisors, has volunteered extensively with Natasha House in Yorktown in recent years; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Cooper was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1982 and served seven full terms, working tirelessly to support her district and represent her constituents; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Cooper helped to establish Natasha House, an organization dedicated to providing homeless women and children with transitional housing and other rehabilitative services to aid them on their paths to wellness and self-sufficiency; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Cooper has given generously of her time over the last 12 years to build Natasha House and extend its influence throughout the community, making a profound impact on countless women's and children's lives; and

WHEREAS, by attending to the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of society, Shirley Cooper has helped to make Yorktown a more wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Honorable Shirley F. Cooper hereby be commended for her service with Natasha House; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable Shirley F. Cooper as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Yorktown and the Commonwealth.
