HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 202
Celebrating the life of Danny Edward Castle.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2024
 

WHEREAS, Danny Edward Castle, a hardworking and dedicated coal miner and mine supervisor and beloved member of the communities of Big Stone Gap and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died on August 21, 2023; and

WHEREAS, born in the Commonwealth and the youngest of nine children, Danny Castle served as a coal miner with Westmoreland Coal Company, Paramount Mining, and Island Creek Coal Company over a period of 40 years, working tirelessly to support the energy needs of the Commonwealth and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Danny Castle later moved with his family to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and worked as a longwall supervisor for Jim Walter Resources up to his retirement, contributing greatly to the safety of the company's mining operations over more than 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Danny Castle will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Linda; his daughter, Misty, and her family; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Danny Edward Castle, a cherished member of the Big Stone Gap and Tuscaloosa, Alabama communities whose work ethic and dedication were an inspiration to all who knew him; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Danny Edward Castle as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
