Celebrating the life of Ben V. Mullins.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2024
 

WHEREAS, Ben V. Mullins, an esteemed mortician and beloved member of the communities of Pennington Gap and Big Stone Gap, died on February 2, 2023; and

WHEREAS, born and raised in Wise County, Ben Mullins was part of the first class to graduate from the former Powell Valley High School; and

WHEREAS, at the age of 16, Ben Mullins began working for the Holding family at their dairy farm in Duffield; and

WHEREAS, as a result of his efforts on the farm, Ben Mullins was promoted to a position at the Holding family's funeral home in Big Stone Gap; and

WHEREAS, after earning a degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Ben Mullins began a partnership with Blake Wilson and devoted the remainder of his career to serving families at Holding Funeral Home, Arney-Mullins Funeral Homes, and Mullins-Sturgill Funeral Home; and

WHEREAS, Ben Mullins demonstrated extraordinary professionalism and compassion as he supported and cared for the families he served during their period of bereavement; and

WHEREAS, Ben Mullins will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Brenda; his children, Lori and Stephanie, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Ben V. Mullins, a cherished member of the Pennington Gap and Big Stone Gap communities whose dedication and service inspired all who knew him; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ben V. Mullins as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
