HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 285
Commending Lee Health & Rehab Center.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 26, 2015

WHEREAS, Lee Health & Rehab Center in Pennington Gap was honored by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living with a Bronze - Commitment to Quality Award for 2014; and

WHEREAS, Lee Health & Rehab Center, which is part of Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, was recognized by the national health care organizations for ongoing efforts to improve the quality of care for its elderly patients and residents and individuals with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Lee Health & Rehab Center offers expert nursing and rehabilitation services as well as long-term and respite care in a compassionate and comfortable environment; additional services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech/language pathology; and

WHEREAS, receiving a Bronze - Commitment to Quality Award from the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) is the first step in a comprehensive program for skilled nursing and post-acute care centers to assist them in achieving specific performance goals; and

WHEREAS, the staff at Lee Health & Rehab has put systems in place to promote continuous quality improvement in order to deliver superior care to the patients and residents of the center, which is in Lee County; and

WHEREAS, the requirements that the employees of Lee Health & Rehab met to achieve the AHCA/NCAL's Bronze award designation included developing a profile of the center, which contained the center's vision and mission statements and an assessment of customers' expectations; and

WHEREAS, additionally, the staff of Lee Health & Rehab, which worked as a team on the project to earn the award, also had to demonstrate an ability to implement a performance improvement system for the health care center; and

WHEREAS, to recognize the hard work that the employees at Lee Health & Rehab put forth to receive the Bronze - Commitment to Quality Award from AHCA/NCAL, the staff, residents, and patients at Lee Health & Rehab enjoyed a reception on October 9, 2014; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Lee Health & Rehab Center in Pennington Gap hereby be commended for being honored with a 2014 Bronze - Commitment to Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robert Ham, administrator of Lee Health & Rehab Center, as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect and admiration for the center's goal to provide top quality care and rehabilitation services to the elderly and people with disabilities in Lee County and the surrounding area.
