Commending Lauren Gilbert.

WHEREAS, Lauren Gilbert, a friend to many in the General Assembly, greatly served the Commonwealth during her 12 years as Associate Director and Director of Programs with the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service; and

WHEREAS, at the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, Lauren Gilbert helped develop and facilitate four political programs designed to support the Commonwealth's current and future leaders, working closely with more than 1,200 program participants from high school students to experienced public servants; and

WHEREAS, Lauren Gilbert worked meticulously to develop programs in which diverse, bipartisan groups of current and future leaders from every corner of the Commonwealth could come together to advance their understanding of the issues that impact different regions of the state and to formulate effective policies and strategies that foster healthy and productive governments and communities; and

WHEREAS, through her experience at the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, her work in governmental affairs, and her love of baseball, a passion she shared with her late mother, Lauren Gilbert has built strong ties to both the public and private sectors of Virginia, as well as the Washington Nationals' stadium; and

WHEREAS, Lauren Gilbert holds a bachelor's degree in political science and political communications from James Madison University and a master's degree in political administration from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Lauren Gilbert hereby be commended for her service as Associate Director and Director of Programs with the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lauren Gilbert as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
