WHEREAS, Wes Farkas, an outstanding educator and coach and a respected innovator in physical fitness education, was named Goochland County Public Schools Teacher of the Year in May 2015; and WHEREAS, Wes Farkas cultivated his passion for education while volunteering as a tutor and coach at The College of William and Mary; he has served the community as a teacher for 15 years and currently works at Goochland High School; and WHEREAS, to prepare his students for success in higher education, careers, and responsible citizenship, Wes Farkas strives to impart the values of teamwork, focus, and self-respect and leads by example in and out of the classroom; and WHEREAS, in addition to serving as head coach of the varsity baseball team and the Ultimate Frisbee Club, Wes Farkas created the Adventure Games program to facilitate physical activity and student development; and WHEREAS, Wes Farkas, who is a leader in Goochland Young Life, is an invaluable member of both the school system and the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Wes Farkas hereby be commended on being named Goochland County Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2015; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Wes Farkas as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his dedication to his students and for his service to Goochland County. |
