Celebrating the life of Lorraine Burchett Nicewonder.

WHEREAS, Lorraine Burchett Nicewonder, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother in Bristol who made many contributions to her community, died on October 11, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Nicewonder was born in Dickenson County and was an outstanding student during her school years in Haysi; and

WHEREAS, for many years, Lorraine Nicewonder devoted herself to her family as a caring mother and a skilled and organized housewife, who loved to cook delicious, nourishing meals and tend to roses in her garden; and

WHEREAS, after her children began attending college, Lorraine Nicewonder proudly continued her own education at what is now the University of Virginia's College at Wise; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Nicewonder and her husband enjoyed supporting local sports teams and took many opportunities to travel, where they collected countless gifts and souvenirs as mementos of their enriching experiences; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep faith, Lorraine Nicewonder was a longtime member of State Street Methodist Church in Bristol and also attended North Naples Methodist Church in Naples, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Nicewonder will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 70 years, J.D.; her children, Carolyn, Sherry, and Mark, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lorraine Burchett Nicewonder; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lorraine Burchett Nicewonder as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for her memory.
