   An act to add Section 15624.1 to the Government Code, relating to
local tax collection.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 2006, as introduced, Mullin. State Board of Equalization:
contracting authority: local tax collection.
   Existing law allows the State Board of Equalization, when
requested by the legislative body of any county, city, or city and
county or the assessor to render advisory or other service, to
contract, at not less than cost and subject to regulations approved
by the Director of General Services, to render such services.
   This bill would provide that those services include the collection
and remittance to a legislative body of any county, city, or city
and county of a tax imposed by that legislative body.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 15624.1 is added to the Government Code, to
read:
   15624.1.  The services the board is authorized to provide pursuant
to Section 15624 include the collection and remittance to a
legislative body of any county, city, or city and county of a tax
imposed by that legislative body.
