Summary

Requires the staff of a jail or other detention center or facility to make a reasonable effort to determine the citizenship status of a person charged with specified crimes. Requires the facility staff to make a reasonable effort to verify whether the prisoner is lawfully present in the United States. Requires facility staff to request the assistance of the United States Department of Homeland Security to verify the immigration status of a person within 48 hours after the person is confined in the jail or other detention center or facility, etc.
