BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 1 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to general provisions relative to public assistance, so as
to provide that, subject to the approval of the United States Department of
Agriculture, food stamp recipients may order eligible food items from nonprofit
charitable organizations over the Internet; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
1 of Chapter 4 of Title 49 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to general provisions relative to public assistance, is amended by adding a new
Code section to read as follows:
"49-4-20.
Subject
to approval by the United States Department of Agriculture, a recipient of food
stamps is authorized to order over the Internet authorized food items from a
nonprofit organization within the meaning of Section 501(a) of the Internal
Revenue Code."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
