RESOLUTION
Commending
William McKeen for his service during the 2011 Regular Session; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Legislative Internship Program is one of the nation's oldest
educational internships to focus on the state legislative process; and
WHEREAS,
the internship is a cooperative venture between the Georgia General Assembly and
institutions of higher learning in Georgia, and it provides a select group of
students with in-depth exposure to the House and Senate by assigning them to
assist key standing committees and legislative leaders; and
WHEREAS,
William McKeen, one of the 28 students selected for the House Legislative
Internship Program, is one of the best and brightest college students in our
state who shares a genuine interest in the lawmaking process and a commitment to
public service; and
WHEREAS,
William McKeen was supported by President Lawrence Schall, Lisa Littlefield,
Wayne Leon, and the administration of Oglethorpe University, and he was an
outstanding representative of Oglethorpe University in the House Legislative
Internship Program; and
WHEREAS,
the unique experience of participating as a House Intern has undoubtedly
enriched his academic studies; and
WHEREAS,
the Chairman of the House Health and Human Services Committee and legislative
leaders benefited greatly from his service and salute him for a job well
done.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
commends William McKeen for his service during the 2011 Regular Session and
conveys its best wishes to him for his future pursuits.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to William
McKeen.
