RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Dori Strock; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Dori Strock is highly regarded by the citizens of her community and state
and by local government officials as a person of unquestioned integrity who is
dedicated to ensuring the safety of others; and
WHEREAS,
a paramedic with Jasper County Emergency Medical Services, Mrs. Strock has been
recognized with the Region V Emergency Medical Services Medal of Valor for her
unselfish and dedicated service; and
WHEREAS,
on February 15, 2009, Mrs. Strock demonstrated great courage as she placed her
own safety on the line in order to rescue a woman who had fallen down a 40 foot
deep well in Hillsboro, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the woman had suffered two broken ankles as a result of her fall into the well,
and Mrs. Wood volunteered to be lowered into the well to bring the accident
victim to the surface for medical attention; and
WHEREAS,
although she has not received High Angle Rescue, Technical Rescue, or Confined
Space Rescue training that is recommended for attempting a rescue by descending
into a well, Mrs. Strock courageously stepped forward for the task, placing the
safety and well-being of another before her own; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their
gratitude for the unique and often unheralded contributions of Mrs. Strock and
all local emergency responders on behalf of the citizens of this
state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the care, courage, and selfless dedication exhibited by Mrs.
Dori Strock in carrying out the difficult duties of her vocation and
congratulate her on earning the Region V Emergency Medical Services Medal of
Valor.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Dori
Strock.
