RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Atlanta Hawks' Joe Johnson; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Joe Johnson has an established reputation for athletic achievement and
demonstrates his exemplary abilities each game as a guard for the NBA's Atlanta
Hawks; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Johnson was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the February
14, 2010, All-Star game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Johnson's All-Star game appearance will be this stellar athlete's fourth
consecutive showing, the first Hawks' player to achieve this since Dikembe
Mutombo from 1997-2001; and
WHEREAS,
from the time the Atlanta Hawks acquired Mr. Johnson in a trade with Phoenix in
2005, he has served as a pillar of strength and leadership for the team;
and
WHEREAS,
his All-Star selection, along with his teammate Al Horford, marks the first time
since 1998 that two Hawks have been named to the All-Star team; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Johnson's direction both on and off the court serve as an inspiration to
countless young athletes, earning him the respect and admiration of his family,
friends, and fans; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his outstanding athletic achievements, it is abundantly
fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary commitment and
accomplishments of Mr. Johnson.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Atlanta Hawks' Joe Johnson for his years of hard work
and perseverance in basketball, recognize his stellar career in the NBA, and
congratulate him on being named to the Eastern Conference All-Star
team.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Joe
Johnson.
