A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Phil McDonald on the occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Phil McDonald has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his remarkable years of superlative public service; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald's retirement on July 23, 2008, from his position as Court Programs Administrator with the Municipal Court of Atlanta marked the conclusion of a distinguished career of devotion to the public; and

WHEREAS, a visionary leader, Mr. McDonald was instrumental in the creation of the City of Atlanta's Community Court Division, a network of providers and charitable organizations offering services to offenders entering the court system; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald's guidance and dedication with the Community Court Division has been recognized by the United States Department of Justice as one of the nine problem solving justice centers in the nation; and

WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Phil McDonald for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Phil McDonald.
