RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Judge Larry Smith; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Judge Larry Smith is a respected and highly regarded former member of the
Georgia General Assembly, having served in the House of Representatives for 16
years; and
WHEREAS,
Judge Smith has recently been inducted into the Butts County Hall of Fame for
his years of selfless and dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS,
a distinguished member of the legal community, Judge Smith served in private
practice for many years, mentoring many young attorneys and assisting numerous
lawyers in developing their own successful legal practices; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Butts County, Judge Smith has served as a member of the board of
education, county attorney, and attorney for the City of Flovilla, and he has
worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Butts County residents;
and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy for the last 15 years with superlative service as a State
Workers' Compensation Judge; and
WHEREAS,
Judge Smith's significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable
patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the
needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
Judge Smith has served with honor and distinction with the State of Georgia, and
his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of
his retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Judge Larry Smith for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate him upon the
grand occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most sincere best
wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Judge Larry
Smith.
