A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity was chartered on December 19, 1988, and serves DeKalb County and other portions of Metropolitan Atlanta; and

WHEREAS, the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter achieves the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity's fundamental purpose of achievement; and

WHEREAS, the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter serves Georgia's youth and seniors through its Guide Right Program and has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades; and

WHEREAS, the chapter received the Paul W. Caine International Chapter of the Year Award in 2005 for the medium chapter category and again in 2009 for the large chapter category; and

WHEREAS, the chapter earned recognition as the J. Michael Graves Southeastern Province Small Chapter of the Year in 2003 and 2005, Medium Chapter of the Year in 2006 and 2007, and the Large Chapter of the Year in 2008 and 2009; and

WHEREAS, members are proud to proclaim that the chapter was the recipient of the National Reclamation Award in 2009 and earned the Southeastern Province Reclamation Award in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding service chapter was recognized with the Jay Crosby Award for Outstanding Guide Right in 2007, 2008, and 2009; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine organization and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on its many accomplishments and recognize the exemplary service its members provide to their communities and this state.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
