A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE fiftieth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2011-2012 for the purpose of financing the capital improvement projects listed in this Act.

     I.   To be expended by the Department of Education:

          A.   Aikahi Elementary School, Oahu

(1)  Campus-wide electrical upgrade.

              Design                                    $1,000

              Construction                         $1,498,000

              Total Funding                         $1,500,000

(2)  Upgrading of telephone system, repair the roof of building D, and renovation of the cafeteria and bathrooms.

              Total Funding                           $125,000

          B.   Kailua Elementary School, Oahu

(1)  Grading, resurfacing, and restriping of the parking lot.

          C.   Kailua Intermediate School, Oahu

(1)  Campus-wide electrical upgrade.

Design                                 $91,600

(2)  Design and construction for the renovation of locker room/shower facilities.

          D.   Kainalu Elementary School, Oahu

(1)  Campus-wide electrical upgrade.

(2)  Repair of covered walkway between buildings D & E and extending to the cafeteria.

          E.   Kalaheo High School, Oahu

(1)  Replace traditional locks with electronic key cards.

(2)  Plan, design, construction, and equipment for a regulation football/soccer field, lengthen the physical education field and install field lights and bleachers.

          F.   Mokapu Elementary School, Oahu

              (1)  Replacement of playground equipment.

              Construction & equipment                   $1,080,000

              Total Funding                         $1,200,000

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2014, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2011.
