A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TWELFTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011:

1.   To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

     A.   Upcountry Maui, Maui

Plan, design, and construct a test well in upcountry Maui to serve as the first phase in the construction of a ground water well to supplement the upcountry surface water system.

                                      FY 2009-10    FY 2010-11

          Plans and design            $  150,000

          Construction                               $ 1,650,000

              Total funding          $  150,000    $ 1,650,000

2.   To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Kalama intermediate school, Maui

Design, construction, and equipment for a covered playcourt.

              Total funding                         $ 2,700,000

     B.   Kalama intermediate school, Maui

Design, construction, and equipment for renovation of the administration building.

              Total funding                         $ 7,890,000

     C.   King Kekaulike high, Maui

Design, construction, and equipment for an auditorium.

              Total funding                         $ 15,200,000

     D.   King Kekaulike high, Maui

Installation of sidewalks and stairs.

              Total funding                         $   75,000

     E.   Kula elementary, Maui

Design, construction, and equipment for expansion of the cafeteria.

              Total funding                         $ 7,000,000

     F.   Makawao elementary, Maui

Design, construction, and equipment for expansion of the cafeteria.

              Total funding                         $ 4,000,000

     G.   Pukalani elementary, Maui

Design, construction, and equipment for new administration and library building.  Renovate old administration building into classrooms.

              Total funding                         $ 10,000,000

3.   To be expended by the department of transportation:

     A.   Haleakala highway widening at milepost 0.8, Maui

Land acquisition, design, and construction for widening the highway from one lane to two lanes, extending a box culvert, and constructing headwalls and wing walls.

          Land acquisition            $   55,000

          Design                          10,000

          Construction                               $ 1,840,000

              Total funding          $   65,000    $ 1,840,000

4.   To be expended by the department of health:

     A.   Kula hospital, Maui

          Repair exterior of building                $  385,000

          Repair 1937 elevator motor                     97,000

          Replacement of ADA bus                         60,000

          Hospital room upgrades                         95,000

              Total funding                         $  637,000

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agencies for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
