A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Fiftieth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $12,325,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2022-2023 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the fiftieth representative district, as follows:
1. Aikahi elementary school
Construction for the refurbishment of existing miracle playground equipment and poured in place surfacing.
Design $50,000
Construction $100,000
Total funding $150,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
2. Aikahi elementary school
Construction for the renovation of restrooms.
Construction $375,000
Total funding $375,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
3. Kailua elementary school
Design and construction for a new covered play court and hula mound; ground and site improvements.
Design $800,000
Construction $3,700,000
Total funding $4,500,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
4. Kailua intermediate school
Design and construction for ventilation improvements and necessary electrical upgrades; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $300,000
Construction $1,700,000
Total funding $2,000,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
5. Kainalu elementary school
Design and construction for a library.
Design $100,000
Construction $1,400,000
Total funding $1,500,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
6. Kalaheo high school
Design and construction for a locker room.
Design $100,000
Construction $3,400,000
Total funding $3,500,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.
7. Hamakua marsh
Equipment for a marshmaster vehicle.
Equipment $300,000
Total funding $300,000
The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources.
SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
