HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

REQUESTING A MANAGEMENT AUDIT OF THE environmental health administration OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the mission of the Department of Health is to protect and improve the health and environment for all people in the State; and

 

     WHEREAS, in order to promote and preserve a clean, healthy, and natural environment, the Environmental Health Administration of the Department of Health oversees various offices and divisions within the Department, including the Compliance Assistance Office, Hazard Evaluation and Emergency Response Office, Environmental Planning Office, Environmental Resources Office, Environmental Management Division, Environmental Health Services Division, and State Laboratories Division; and

 

     WHEREAS, a management audit of the Environmental Health Administration has never been conducted; and

 

     WHEREAS, a management audit would involve an in-depth examination of the effectiveness and efficiency of the Administration's operations, providing the information necessary to maximize the Environmental Health Administration's resources and the services it provides; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2013, the Senate concurring, that the Auditor is requested to perform a management audit of the Environmental Health Administration of the Department of Health; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is requested to submit a report of findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2014; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor, the Director of Health, and the Deputy Director of the Environmental Health Administration.
