HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the auditor to conduct a sunrise review of the regulation and licensure of music therapists.

 

 

     WHEREAS, S.B. No. 2451, introduced during the 2012 Regular Session, proposes the regulation and licensure of music therapists; and

 

     WHEREAS, persons who hold themselves out as music therapists are not presently required to be licensed, certified, registered, or otherwise regulated by the State; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 26H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, requires certain regulatory measures to be referred to the Auditor for analysis if the regulatory measures being considered for enactment would subject unregulated professions and vocations to licensing upon enactment; and

 

     WHEREAS, section 26H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, further requires that referral to the Auditor shall be by a concurrent resolution that identifies a specific legislative bill to be analyzed; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2012, the Senate concurring, that in accordance with section 26H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Auditor is respectfully requested to conduct a sunrise review of the licensure of music therapists; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor is further requested to submit findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2013; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Auditor.
