HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

Congratulating the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM for representing the State of Hawaii in the 2017 FIRST® Robotics Championships in Houston, Texas.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the 2017 Hawaii FIRST® Robotics State Championships annually recognizes student robotics programs that maintain strong, well-rounded teams and work to improve their schools and communities through their competitive activities; and

 

     WHEREAS, this year, the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM produced two Teams, Team 4025 and Team 4033, who have respectively received the 1st Place and 2nd Place Championship Awards; and

 

     WHEREAS, the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM has accepted and supported students with special needs, English as a second language students, and homeless students with little means, and emphasizes personal growth and learning over trophies; and

 

     WHEREAS, the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM supports 35 students who make up five Teams in FIRST® Lego, VEX, and Robofest; and

 

     WHEREAS, under the guidance of advisors, Janice Lee, Gary Kanamori, and Kyle Matsumoto, students are offered the opportunity to develop leadership and engineering skills, while providing their services in improving the Robotics Program and the school; and

 

     WHEREAS, the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM will represent the State of Hawaii in the 2017 FIRST® Robotics Championships in Houston, Texas, from April 19 – 22, 2017; and

     WHEREAS, the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM is represented by coaches: Gary Kanamori, Kyle Matsumoto, Janice Lee, Albert Seamster, Bob Fujikawa, Leila Phanphengdy, and Kathy Kawabata; and students: Makana Ajolo, Kacie Arakaki, Felix Bak, Kaimana Bradley, Kyrie Choo, Jaylee Curran, Jacob Enrico, Arissa Fukushima, Guysen Hirata, Jayna Lua, Kyan Matsumoto, Madison Murakami, Kaitlyn Nagai, Samantha Nagai, Rasia Negrillo, Brayden Nozaki, Brittany Ann Nozaki, Carson Ohira, Tiffany Olivo, Gerricka Pang, Zion Peters, Chelsey Sagapolu, Teddy Sepulveda, Caryssa Shinozawa, Jeriah Solomon, Evan Suzuki, Lauren Tapat, Heilala Taufahema, Joshua Taufahema, Farrah Velasco, and Kira Yoda; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2017, that this body hereby commends and congratulates the 2017 PEARL CITY HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS PROGRAM and wishes the team continued success in all future endeavors.
