HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

recognizing the honorees and distinguished finalists of the boys & girls clubs – state of hawaii's 2016 youth of the year awards.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the Hawaii State House of Representatives is proud to recognize those exceptional individuals who have made significant achievements in their lives and who have had a positive impact on those around them; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is an organization that operates drop-in service facilities that provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, nurturing, and supervised environment where youth from 9 to 17 years old can be themselves, interact with positive role models, and learn the values and skills that promote a successful future; and

 

     WHEREAS, the annual Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year program offers exceptional teens the opportunity to be recognized for choices and positive behavior that warrant celebration; this premier character and leadership program celebrates club members' service to the Club, community and family, academic performance, ethical values, life goals, poise, and public speaking ability, and fosters personal growth and leadership qualities; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs-State of Hawaii have chosen 20 members from across the state as Youth of the Year honorees, including JORDYN ALEXANDRA BROOKS-MATHEW of the Pahoa Clubhouse, NICHOLAS MIGUEL of the Hilo Clubhouse, AMANDA CAIRES of the Makawao Clubhouse, JAMIE FUJII of the Lahaina Clubhouse, NIGEL MAYFIELD of Maui's Central Clubhouse, PRISM REINIER of the Haiku Clubhouse, TAHITI AHSAM of the Paukukalo Clubhouse, ALEXIS FREEMAN of the Kapaa Clubhouse, ERNESTO YORO JR. of the Hale Pono Ewa Beach Clubhouse, JAELYN BELARDE of the Lihue Clubhouse, JASMINE GILMETE of the Charles C. Spalding Clubhouse, JEFFREY JONES of the Waianae Clubhouse, KIRSTEN EARLL of the Waianae Clubhouse, RENDLE MONES of the Lihue Clubhouse, ROXANNE MARIE AGRAAN of the Hale Pono Ewa Beach Clubhouse, SKIPPER ISAAC of the Charles C. Spalding Clubhouse, TATYANA SAMUELS of the Nanakuli Clubhouse, JASON GOLDSTEIN of the Windward Clubhouse, ZACHARY CASE of the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Teen Center, and ANESSA RIDLEY of the Fort Shafter Youth Center; and

 

     WHEREAS, the honorees have been narrowed down to five   finalists: JORDYN ALEXANDRA BROOKS-MATHEW, JAMIE FUJII, and JEFFREY JONES for the Boys & Girls Clubs – State of Hawaii's Youth of the Year; and ZACHARY CASE and ANESSA RIDLEY for the Boys & Girls Clubs – State of Hawaii's Military Youth of the Year; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs – State of Hawaii's Youth of the Year finalist will go on to compete in the Pacific Region competition and to the national Youth of the Year competition, and the Boys & Girls Clubs – State of Hawaii's Military Youth of the Year finalist will join fellow finalists in the national Military Youth of the Year competition; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, that this body hereby commends and congratulates the honorees and distinguished finalists of the Boys & Girls Clubs – State of Hawaii's Youth of the Year Awards, and wishes the finalists the best of luck as they move further through the competition.
